Using an Ethernet Hub In Your Home Network

Are you moving into a new home that was built before the 1990's? If you are, there is a very good chance you will not have any hard wired Ethernet cabling in your new home. More than likely you will have to establish a home network to meet the needs of your family. An essential part of that network will be a four port Ethernet Hub. Many things in homes today require an Internet connection to work. Some are simply enhanced by using the Internet. Some different things that may require an Internet connection, are computers, gaming systems and VOIP phone systems.

An Ethernet Hub will help you to set up a network with a minimum amount of labor. You will require one main cable to each floor and then you can branch out to all the rooms in the home where you require data cabling. You can split that one cable using the hub and run the Internet connection into each room on each floor. This way each room will have it's own ethernet connection.

After your network is taken care of, you may want to protect your home with a security system. Security systems today also run on Ethernet cabling. An Ethernet Hub can cut your work in half by linking the security system to your home network, which will give you total control over the access to your home. This way you can monitor all window and door sensors. A good security system also requires some surveillance cameras outside of your home to monitor blind spots, entrances and egresses. Linking the camera to your home network with a hub will even allow you check on your home from anywhere.

By using an Ethernet Hub or multiple hubs in your home, you can establish a robust network to meet the needs of any modern family or home office. Your son can be on his gaming system in his room. At the same time, your daughter could be chatting with friends on your VOIP telephone system. Then of course, your spouse might be working on their computer for the next day's work. While this is all taking place, your house will be secure via the Internet. The Internet can do so much thanks to today's technology and a hub can make it all happen.
